Greetings RCT Family and Friends!
We are so excited for our 2017-2018 season because it is a celebration of our 10th year of providing quality theatre entertainment and education to the Roanoke Valley and beyond. This theatre was created in 2008 for you and because of you. It is hard to believe what we have all accomplished together over 10 years. Four professional productions per season, many including professional actors from the Equity Actors Union in NYC. One production is specifically for teens and the issues they face. We are proud to produce this play each year and have approached subjects like teen suicide, depression, eating disorders, the teen brain, under-age drinking, heroin and addiction and teen pregnancy. Each of these shows offers a post-show discussion with health professionals and resources. And one production tours all over the Commonwealth in order to provide professional theatre experiences in areas where there is none.
Our theatre academy is staffed by professionals who share their love of theatre and nurture and inspire a new generation. Our instructors not only teach theatre skills and provide fun classes and camps, they also teach life skills like building confidence, team work, and problem solving skills.
Every year we conduct a camp for youth with special needs. It is called Kaleidoscope Camp. Campers are paired with a buddy and after a week of exploring music, movement, art and music, a performance for friends and families is mounted. They have so much fun and they have memories and friends as well. We are able to provide this free of tuition!
Our 10th anniversary is full of funny. GOOSEBUMPS THE MUSICAL has its regional premiere at RCT. Based on the popular R.L. Stein book, PHANTOM OF THE AUDITORIUM, it is a little scary and lot funny. Fans will love this theatrical adaptation with a haunting score. Our holiday musical is a laugh riot. The BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, THE MUSICAL has its Virginia premiere that will keep you laughing from start to finish. Our issue based play will be about distracted driving and social media. We need to talk about this. We will begin the conversation with health professionals. And rounding out our 10th season we are bringing back the classic, CHARLOTTE’S WEB.
Won’t you join us?
