Pat Wilhelms

Pat Wilhelms

(Artistic Director)

Pat is the Artistic Director and founder of Roanoke Children’s Theatre: Professional Theatre for Young Audiences! located inside The Dumas Center downtown Roanoke, Virginia. Prior, she was the Director of Education and Outreach at Mill Mountain Theatre for 10 years, directing shows that toured to schools all across Virginia. RCT directing credits include: Madeline’s Christmas, Charlotte’s Web, The Giver, Junie B. Jones , The Secret Life of Girls, Tuck Everlasting, If You Give a Mouse A Cookie, Wrecked, The Velveteen Rabbit and Go Dog. Go!. Pat is on the screening committee for The Southeast Theatre Conference and teaches Basic and Advanced Acting at Virginia Western Community College. Pat is also a member of ASSITEJ. and The American Alliance of Theatre and Education.

Brett Roden

Brett Roden

(Director of Education)

Brett Roden, Director of Education, received his Bachelor of Arts at SUNY Potsdam & The Crane School of Music, through the (SIIM) Student Initiated Interdepartmental Major, with a degree in Musical Theatre Arts in Directing. From Central New York, Brett has served as music director, vocal coach and teaching artist for the Tony Award Winning Barrington Stage Company, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School, Bogardus Performing Arts Center, Madrid-Waddington Central School, Syracuse Children’s Theatre, SUNY Potsdam’s Creative Arts Camp and Manlius Pebble Hill Summer Stock. Brett also enjoys being a performer himself on the operatic and musical theatre stage.

Ian Felker

Ian Felker

(Education Associate/Resident Stage Manager)

Ian Felker, Education Coordinator and RCT Resident Stage Manager, is an alumni of the Pennsylvania State University. While attending Penn State, Ian participated in dozens of productions with the Penn State Thespians, No Refund Theatre, and 440 Underground, doing everything from performing to directing to writing original shows. Ian was also a very active member of the Generoo Organization of Beaver Springs, PA where he directed shows and served as a Dramaturgy Intern.

Mary Hannah Garber

Mary Hannah Garber

Mary Hannah Garber, Company Member, was a recent performer at Roanoke Children’s Theatre in Elephant & Piggie as Squirelle #2. She was also seen as the Elegant Wife in Scrooge No More at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Dianne in 42nd Street at Mill Mountain Theatre. She also performed in Fiends at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and was a member of a Disney workshop in New York City. Mary Hannah lived and worked in NYC and recently returned home to the Roanoke Valley. She is currently a Paraprofessional at Rocky Mount Elementary, teaching dance for the YMCA, and serving as the choir director for her church. She is thrilled to be a part of Roanoke Children’s Theatre and wants to thank her family and friends for their unending support.

Caroline Rigby

Caroline Rigby

Caroline recently performed the title role in How I Became a Pirate. Other RCT Credits: Madeline’s Christmas, Junie B., and Velveteen Rabbit. Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre from CNU where she appeared in Sweet Charity, Urinetown, Last Five Years, and the Tempest. She was most recently seen as Junie B. in Jingle Bells Batman Smells and worked with the regional tour of teen outreach program at Charlotte Children’s Theatre and as a performer at Busch Gardens Theme Park.

Kristen Kay Smith

Kristen Kay Smith

Originally from TX, Kristen holds a MM in Musical Theatre Performance from NYU Steinhardt and a BME in Choral/Classical Voice with Minors in Piano and Religion from Baylor University. She is the Youth Choir Director at Second Presbyterian, a Middle School Choir Director with RCPS and has been Adjunct Faculty at NYU and Ferrum College. Performances include Love Creek Productions NYC, her favorite, “Celtic Fyre,” while also a vocal captain at Busch Gardens, MMT, Opera Roanoke, RCT where she has taught and music directed, and the acoustic duo, Carrington Kay www.carringtonkay.com.

Kerry Morgiewicz

Kerry Morgiewicz

Kerry Morgiewicz earned her B.M. degree in piano performance from James Madison University, and her M.M. degree in piano performance from the University of Memphis. She also studied at the Bavarian Music Academy in Marktoberdorf, Germany in 1999 and 2001. She is currently teaching piano at Hollins where she is the coordinator of the Hollins Music Academy. She also works in the theatre department as the music director for productions at Hollins. Shows include: Chicago, Into the Woods, Violet, Nine, Caroline or Change, Goodnight Moon, Cabaret, Guys and Dolls, Man of LaMancha, and Rent. Past shows at Roanoke Children’s Theatre include Honk, Christmas Cookies, and Rapunzel.

April Parke

April Parker

April Parker is Roanoke native and a wife and mom of 3, who loves to dance. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in dance from Radford University. While in college she discovered her love for teaching and choreography and had the opportunity to choreograph several student pieces. She was a teacher and company member of the Roanoke Ballet Theatre. While at RBT she helped choreograph pieces for their performances of Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, and Beauty and the Beast. She has also directed and choreographed for the Judah dance ministry for many years and taught dance classes in some local schools. She has also danced in Romania, Czech Republic and Costa Rica. She has recently performed with Attic Productions as Fannie and a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins She is excited to be at RCT doing what she loves, teaching dance.
